KUMAVISION Customer Forum 2019: Digitalization in focus

More competitiveness through the digital transformation, more efficiency with the Microsoft Unified Platform and new possibilities thanks to artificial intelligence - these topics were the focus of this year's customer forum for the business software specialist KUMAVISION. More than two 250 attendees met in Stuttgart at the beginning of April to discuss functional innovations in ERP industry solutions for industry, commerce, service providers, medical technology and the healthcare market, discuss current IT trends and use the event to exchange views with experts and industry colleagues ,

"We are pleased to be at the 16. Issue of our customer forum with 250 subscribers welcomed a third of more visitors than in the previous year. The extremely positive response shows that there is great interest in our ERP solutions and supplementary applications in the context of digitization, "explains KUMAVISION CEO and host Markus Birk.

In the numerous specialist lectures, workshops and user groups, the participants learned about current topics Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, the successor to Dynamics NAV. "We see the ERP software as a central hub for information and processes in the company, whose potential can be sustainably increased by linking with other applications," says Birk. So KUMAVISION showed how to deal with Microsoft PowerApps - Depending on the complexity - without extensive programming knowledge, applications can be created that easily retrieve their data from various Microsoft systems, such as CRM or ERP. In addition, in combination with Microsoft Flow various workflow solutions, such as the automatic sending of e-mails, are triggered. The apps can be used vendor-independent on smartphones and tablets: "Employees can access data and processes on the go, which are optimized for this purpose and easy to use."

Other topics on the Agenda included the analysis and visualization of data Power BI, the implications of the GoBD (Principles for the proper management and storage of books, records and records in electronic form and access to data) on the practice, quality assurance directly in the ERP, the automated processing of vouchers and innovative solutions for logistics and foreign trade.

The future of business software

"Star guest" of the event was the Unified Platform of technology partner Microsoft. The worldwide unique offer provides all relevant business applications on a consistent basis: ERP, CRM, Business Intelligence, Office 365, IoT, mobile apps and other offerings all work with a common database. KUMAVISION demonstrated the possibilities of cross-application workflows without interfaces in the impressive live demo of a service case. All presented steps interact directly, paperless processes and automated workflows accelerate the process and ensure maximum order transparency.

  • Machine fails
  • Telemetry data acquired via sensors transmit a fault message to the service provider via the IoT
  • The responsible service technician will be notified automatically
  • A defined workflow provides all required data (deployment planning, directions, customer and machine information) on a tablet and automatically updates all order data in real time
  • The necessary spare parts are clearly identified on site via the KI-based image recognition integrated in the mobile service app. A photo of the defective part is sufficient
  • The spare parts order also via the app, the logistics process for the delivery of the spare part to the site will be triggered without delay
  • The service case is fully documented on the tablet - including photos, pre-filled data and digital signature of the customer
  • The office staff immediately after completion of the operation have all the necessary data for billing in the system

Artificial intelligence in practice

That artificial intelligence has now definitely arrived in the middle class, showed the keynote of the customer forum. "What was yesterday's music of the future is already becoming reality today. We are investing specifically in research and development in this area and are expanding our industry solutions with AI functionalities, "commented Markus Birk. As an example, KUMAVISION presented an app for service technicians who use the camera of a tablet or smartphone to uniquely identify and order the required spare parts through automatic image recognition. Customers of KUMAVISION do not have to start from scratch: The technology partner Microsoft provides a range of mature, ready-to-use services - such as image and speech recognition, machine learning, automatic translations and data analysis. "KI solutions are thus no longer reserved for large corporations, even smaller companies can benefit from the tremendous opportunities we have with them," says Birk.

More efficiency with industry 4.0

There was also strong demand for the industry 4.0 - not only for customers in the manufacturing industry. The IoT experts from KUMAVISION presented numerous application scenarios for practical use. The spectrum covered everything from the networking of machines, ERP software and companies to optimized logistics processes and augmented reality solutions: KUMAVISION showed just how easy it is to display operating data of a machine in real time in the camera image of a smartphone. Service employees can thus conveniently call up the status of a machine.
